Analog Devices (ADI) announced the highly integrated power management solution "LTC 3372" in July 2018. It is compatible with systems requiring multiple low voltage outputs from input voltages up to 60 V and is supplied in a 7 x 7 mm 48-pin QFN package. The unit price for 1000 pieces is from 5.75 US dollars, and mass production shipment has started. We anticipate utilization in automotive, industrial and medical applications.

 

The LTC3372 consists of a 60V synchronous step-down switching regulator controller and four user-configurable synchronous monolithic step-down regulators. As a result, up to five outputs can be supplied with one IC, even with low quiescent current. It operates from 1 MHz to 3 MHz, the switching frequency is programmable and can also be synchronized to an external clock.

 

The step-down controller operates over an input voltage range of 4.5 to 60 V and drives a power stage composed of N-channel MOSFETs. The output can be programmed to 3.3 V, 5 V and can supply up to 20 A output current. We also control 4 step-down regulators integrated on the chip. By programming each channel of the step-down regulator, up to 4 A output current can be configured, and the output voltage can be controlled to 0.8 V minimum.

 

The LTC 3372's no-load quiescent current is 15 μA with only 5 V high-voltage controller, 23 μA with 3.3 V output, 9 μA per channel with each additional low-voltage regulator. It is suitable for battery-powered applications and automotive applications where one or more power rails are always on.
